  • Piggybacking is a technique in which the outgoing acknowledgment is briefly delayed.
  • When a frame is received in two-way communication, the receiver pauses before sending the control frame back to the sender. The receiver waits for the next data packet to arrive from its network layer. This outgoing data frame is then linked to the delayed acknowledgment.
  • The main benefit of piggybacking is that it allows you to make greater use of available channel capacity. This is due to the fact that an acknowledgment frame is not required to be delivered separately.
  • Lowering the cost of usage
  • Reduces data transport latency
