- If you embed an Excel chart in PowerPoint, any changes you make to the original Excel chart will be reflected in your presentation as long as the files are kept in the same folder.
- To embed an Excel chart, follow these steps:
- Select the Insert tab in PowerPoint.
- In the Text group, select the Object command. There will be a dialogue box appear. Choose Create from a file, then Browse.
- Click Insert after finding and selecting the desired Excel file.
- If you want to link the data to the Excel chart, check the box next to Link to file. When you make changes to the Excel chart, your chart will automatically update.
- Click the OK button. Your presentation will now include the chart.
- Double-click the embedded chart to edit it. The chart's source data will be displayed in an Excel spreadsheet. Make care to save the chart in Excel once you've finished changing it.
- Make sure you don't destroy or relocate the original Excel file after you've inserted a chart. If the location of the PowerPoint presentation or the Excel file changes, you may need to re-embed the chart for it to work properly.
