  • Microsoft Word also allows us to prevent users from changing or formatting Word documents. To establish the editing limits of a Word document, follow the steps below.
  • Open the Word document for which you want to impose editing constraints.
  • Click the File Tab, then the Info option, and finally the Protect Document button, which will display a list of alternatives to choose from.
  • Select Restrict Editing from the drop-down menu. This will open the original document, as well as the Editing Restriction area, where you can define the editing limitations. You can control the document's formatting and editing restrictions from here.
  • Within the Editing Restrictions, check the Allow only this type of editing document box, pick No change (Read only) from the dropdown list, and then select Everyone in groups.
  • After you've established all of the restriction options, click the Yes, Start Enforcing Protection button, which will bring up a dialogue box asking for the password so no one can change the settings. You may now type in the password or leave it blank to disable password security.
  • Finally, click the Ok button, and your work will be protected from further changes.
