  • A Pin is a visual representation of a product or idea that is saved to a Pinterest Board for later use.
  • On Pinterest, a 'repin' occurs when someone sees an existing pin on the site and saves it to another board. A pin's popularity can be gauged by the number of repins it has – a pin with a lot of repins has been saved more times than a pin with few repins.
  • Outside of Pinterest, repins are also possible, though this is less popular. Any Saves for that image can be counted as repins to the original if an attribute is added to the image by a web administrator.
  • 'Saved content is only visible on your profile when others visit your boards, but it is dispersed across the platform in multiple ways (home feed, search, related pins, and so on).'
