Brazil is the first country, where WhatsApp is launching its ‘WhatsApp Pay’:

  • WhatsApp, a Facebook-owned social media company, has launched its 'WhatsApp Pay' service in Brazil for the first time. WhatsApp began testing its payments service in India two years ago, allowing users to send and receive money. However, due to regulatory obstacles, the proposal was unable to be implemented.
  • To avoid illegal purchases, WhatsApp has created the payment system with a special six-digit PIN or fingerprint authorisation.
