- Word settings can be used to fix a conversion error in a Word file.

- In the File Conversion dialogue box, click Cancel to avoid this behaviour. The file will open without being converted to text when you do this. Then, in Word, open the document.
- Attach a new template to the document to prevent this behaviour the next time you access it. Change the template to the global template as an alternative (Normal.dot). Follow these procedures to attach a template: Select Templates and Add-ins from the Tools menu.
- Click Attach in the Templates and Add-ins dialogue box.
- Select the desired template in the Attach Template dialogue box, then click Open.
- Click OK in the Templates and Add-ins dialogue box.
