- In Word, you can create a variety of documents by selecting one of the new document options:
- Blank Document—As the name suggests, a Blank Document opens a blank document page where you can start from scratch creating your document. You type, modify, and format the document entirely on your own, with no suggestions, directives, or guidance from the software about what to type, where to type it, or the optimal structure for the document. When you wish to make a traditional printed document, such as a timetable, handout, letter, or curriculum vitae (CV), start with a new document.
- This is a blank web page.In Web Layout View, this provides a blank page where you can start from scratch and construct a web content. If you want to display the document's content on an intranet or on the internet in a web browser, use a Blank Web Page. Web documents are saved in the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) format by default.
- E-mail Message with No Content-An E-mail Message is a document that you generate in Word and distribute to individuals all over the world. If you wish to compose and send a message or a document to others directly from Word, use an E-mail Message. An e-mail message contains an e-mail Envelope toolbar where you can enter the recipient's Name (or e-mail address if you haven't already saved the address with the names in an Address or Contact list on your computer or network) and the message's Subject; set message attributes; and send it.
