What should web developers be aware of about the new browser of Microsoft, Edge?

Microsoft Edge is the browser created for Windows 10 edge which replaces the long-old browser named Internet Explorer that debuted with Windows 95. Edge is a smaller more streamlined browser built on web standards and designed for Web services.

Microsoft says that Edge is faster than Chrome because it is running on pure JavaScript code so its speed is nearly double when compared to the speed of Google Chrome as the Chakra JavaScript engine is much faster than Chrome’s V8. Microsoft Edge has Cortana voice assistant integration which is actually very useful if you know how to use it. You can look up information very quickly using “Ask Cortana”. It is equivalent to Chrome’s “Search Google for…” feature. However, the handy part is that you can do it without opening another tab. Using the in-built ink feature you can draw or mark on web pages. It can load 4k videos faster and play videos more smoothly when compared to chrome. Chrome occupies much larger disk space and consumes more power compared to Edge which being very light consumes less than half of the resources that are consumed by chrome.
Edge is an important product of Microsoft. Microsoft is selling web-based services such as Office 365 that are accessed via this browser. It can optimize its online offerings without the risk of Google introducing incompatibilities. Edge’s rendering engine is a key component in Windows. It is used to render HTML for other applications, so there is no need for a third-party rendering engine.
