Sukla Mistry became the first female operational director of the company of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country's largest oil refining and gasoline marketing firm.
She has been appointed Director of IOC, India's highest-ranked energy public sector business, according to a statement from the firm. 'Mistry is the IOC's first female functional director.' She would also serve as a director on the boards of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL) and the 60 MMTPA Ratnagiri Refinery & Petrochemical Ltd, the country's greatest grassroots refinery project, which is set to begin construction in Maharashtra. Mistry would proceed to serve as a non-executive director of the company of IHBL, a joint venture of three major oil and gas central public sector enterprises.
IOC is the country's largest refiner, having a total refinery of 80.55 million tonnes per year. Mistry possesses a metallurgical engineering degree from Bengal Engineering College, Calcutta University, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Management from ICFAI and certification in Industrial Radiography and Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Testing. Before being Director (Refineries), she was the sole woman Executive Director & Refinery Head at IOC's 6.0 million tonnes per annum Barauni refinery in Begusarai, Bihar.
'Some of her crowning achievements during her tenure included the implementation of mega BS-VI projects, the delivery of BS-VI grade fuel from the refinery well ahead of schedule, the reference of ethanol-blended gasoline and XP-100 gasoline, and the manner to establish a Continuous Catalytic Reforming Unit by providing reformates from other refineries, and thus increasing the refinery's GRM,' according to the comment. Mistry is also the first woman in IOC history to serve as Executive Director & Refinery Head of a corporate unit, first at Digboi Refinery (Assam) from January 1, 2018, until February 7, 2019, and then at Barauni.
She was the sole Indian woman appointed to Qatar Petroleum (at the Qatar site) in April 2004 and Emirates National Oil Company (Dubai) in March 2002 for the execution of the enormous Linear Alkaline Benzene Project and plant turn-around review. 'With over 35 years of experience in refining and petrochemicals operations, she was also a key member of the prestigious team that established India's largest Naphtha Cracker Complex, such as its captive power plant, and Indian Synthetic Rubber Private Limited's Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Project at Panipat Refinery. In 2015, Dun & Bradstreet awarded the Styrene Butadiene Rubber Project the best infrastructural project award 'the statement said.
