Rajasthan has the highest number of electrified households under the Saubhagya scheme, thanks to the solar-powered standalone system. The intervention had no beneficiaries in the mountain states of Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim, as well as the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Saubhagya Scheme, also known as the
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, is a government initiative in India that aims to provide electricity to households.
Prime Minister
Narendra Modi revealed the project in September 2017, stating that the goal was to accomplish the electrification procedure by
December 2018. Certain families identified through 2011 Socioeconomic and Caste Census (SECC) would be eligible for free
energy links, while others are charged Rs. 500. To distribute data about the scheme, the government set up a website, saubhagya.gov.in. The project's total cost is Rs. 16,320 crores, while the
Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) is Rs. 12,320 crores. Each household will receive one
LED light and one DC
power plug. It also involves 5 years of Meter Only Repair and Maintenance (R&M).
