France hosted the One Ocean Summit in Brest from February 9 to 11, in collaboration with the United Nations and the World Bank.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke during the One Ocean Summit's high-level session. Several additional leaders of state and government will address the summit's high-level portion, including those from Germany, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, and Canada. The One Ocean Summit will be held in Brest, France, from February 9 to 11, in partnership with the United Nations and the World Bank. The summit's goal is to galvanize the worldwide community to take concrete steps toward protecting and sustaining sustainable and healthy ocean life.

The ocean spans more than 70% of our planet's surface, but it is routinely left out of big European and worldwide events. The ocean is a primary regulator of major environmental balances, particularly climate, a resource giver, an important facilitator of trade, and a crucial link between countries and human populations. However, it is now critically endangered by a variety of factors, including the consequences of climate change, pollution, and overfishing of marine resources. France has chosen to hold a One Planet Summit devoted to the ocean to rally the world community and take practical action to minimize such pressures on the ocean.
