Bad about Mac OS 12:
- Apple releases the first Monterey update, most likely macOS 12.1, at which point the major concerns should be resolved.
- Macs that have been bricked
- Some Macs have been reported to be bricked when Monterey is installed, which is worrying. The issue appears to be affecting older Intel-based machines; there is speculation that it affects both T1 and T2-equipped Macs, with the T1 appearing to be more afflicted than the T2.
- The new firmware that comes with the upgrade could be the cause of the failure after the update. If something goes wrong during the installation, such as the Mac being turned off or another operation interfering with the firmware update, the operating system could crash completely.
