Russian-made sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19 infection has been rolled out in India by Delhi hospitals.
Sputnik V, also known as Gam-COVID-Vac, is a COVID-19 adenovirus infectious vector vaccination produced by Russia's Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. It is the nation's initial licensed combining vector vaccination for the protection of COVID-19, having been approved by the Russian Ministry of Health on August 11, 2020.

Gam-COVID-Vac was licensed for sales in Russia first, and later in 59 other nations, based on the early findings of Phase I–II trials, which were announced on September 4, 2020. The clearance of Gam-COVID-Vac in early August was received with controversy in the press and debate in the research world over whether authorization was appropriate in the lack of substantial empirical evidence demonstrating efficacy and safety.
