Follow these steps on your iPhone or iPad to disable Background auto Refreshing:

1. Go to the Settings menu.
2. Select General.
3. Refresh the background app.
4. Toggle off Background App Refresh completely; you can also set it to refresh an app only when connected to Wi-Fi or when connected to Wi-Fi and Cellular Data.
