Section 300 of the Indian Penal Code defines the term ‘Murder’ and section 307 of IPC defines the punishment of the Murder.
         What is the difference between sections 300 and 307 of the IPC?


Overview

In the Indian Penal Code, section 300 has been inherited the definition of Murder, and section 307 of IPC consists of its result as the Punishment of the offence that has been committed by any accused. The word murder in itself has many other concepts and types which shows its vast nature in the code.

Section 300 of the Indian Penal Code 1860

Murder has been defined in the section as there have been given some points as the example in which it says that except in these cases the Culpable Homicide will be assumed as Murder.
Here it says if the act which causes the death of a person and such act has been committed with the intention of causing death will be accused of ‘Murder’.
Or
It has been committed with the intention that such actions will cause bodily injury which will be amounted to death, the act will come under the offence of ‘Murder’.
Or
If the act, that has been done by any person that could cause them bodily injury which was in the nature as it will amount to death.


Section 307 of IPC

The section has the provision to punish the crime of Murder as per the Code.
Here it has been said that whoever does any act with such intention or knowledge, and under such circumstances that, if he by that act caused death, he would be guilty of murder and shall be punished with the imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to 10 years, and also shall be liable for fine. If the hurt is caused to any person by such act, the offender shall be liable either to imprisonment of life or to such punishment as if hereinbefore mentioned.
