Steps to  know if a person is chatting while on video calls on WhatsApp:

• WhatsApp lets you know if your contacts are online and when they were last viewed. On WhatsApp, it's fairly easy to tell.
• Open the WhatsApp app on your phone or tablet.
• Go to the 'Chats' section of the website.
• To see if the person is online or offline, tap the chat to which you want to see if they are online.
• If you haven't already begun a chat with the individual, use the search icon on the top screen to look for them.
• By clicking on the chat bubble in the left corner of the screen, you can start a new conversation.
• You can now tell if someone is online or not. You can discover 'Online' beneath the contact name if the individual is online. Otherwise, you can look up the last time the contact was online.
