What is genocide?

Origin of the word “Genocide
This word came into existence in 1944 before, this time it was not even heard by any people. It was first used by the polish-Jewish lawyer whose name wasRaphael Lekinto present the policies of the Nazis system murder of the whole race or community during the Holocaust. The Jews people were also included in the fear of death. He combined the two words the “Geno” from the Greek word which means the race or tribe, and the other is “Cide” a Latin word that means the killing.

Definition
On 9 December 1948, the United Nations signed a written agreement which is known as the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide “United Nations Genocide Convention which made this act a Punishable Crime and, it had given the standard Definition of the above word as
“Any of the following act committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group as such.”
  • Killing member of the group
  • Causing serious bodily or mental harm to a member of the group.
  • We are affecting the life of such a group that can lead to the end of their life.
  • Imposing measures intended to prevent Births within the groups.
  • Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Genocide in India
The definition of the term is already explained above and the act of genocide is witnessed by all the country including India, there has been committed many cases of Genocide, some of them are as follows-

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre – happened on 13 April 1919, in Amritsar, Punjab, this incident had witnessed approximately 379-381 dead and 1000 injured of Indian people

Calcutta riots -15 August- 19 September 1946, in West Bengal, in this Massacre about 7000 – 11000 people clashed during a protest going on by All Indian Muslim League and the day termed as the Direct Action Day.

Partition of Bengal in 1947, affected area Punjab, Sindh, Delhi, the dominion of India, and Dominion of Pakistan. In this incident, about 200,000 to 200,000,0 lakhs people were killed during the transfer of the Hindus and Muslims from India and Pakistan.

What is genocide?

There have been many other incidents witnessing the Genocide and many other secret acts that had been committed between the unidentified Community in jungles. Including all the incidents we can say that there is no such country that is not affected by this word.
