Goa Governor Satyapal Malik has been made the Governor of Meghalaya on 18th August 2020. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has been given additional charge of Goa. This decision of Modi Cabinet has been approved by President Ram Nath Kovind. This is Malik's third transfer in a year. He is currently the Governor of Goa. Prior to this he was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
Malik assumed the post of Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on 23 August 2018. They stayed here till 30 October 2019. He was sworn in as the Governor of Goa on 3 November 2019. Now he has been given the responsibility of Meghalaya.
On August 5 last year, the Central Government abolished Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Malik was the Governor of the state during this period. The Center made Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh separate union territories, a decision that came into effect from 31 October.
Malik was also given additional charge of Odisha for a few months in 2018. Satyapal Malik has represented the Aligarh Constituent Assembly from 1989 to 1991. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh from 1980–86 and 1986–1992.
