The Lokpal Act 2013, an anti corruption Act of Indian Parliament, looks into complaints against public servants who are defined under the Lokpal Act 2013.
Appointment
On 17 March 2019, retired Supreme Court judge Pinaki Chandra Ghose was appointed as the first Lokpal of India by a committee consisting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Loksabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
Composition
Its office comprises of a chairman and upto 8 members. Lokpal's chairman can be current or former judge of the Supreme Court or Chief justice of high courts. Or an eminent person that is, he is a person of neat and clean image and outstanding ability having special knowledge and expertise of not less than 25 years in the matters relating to : Anti Corruption Policy, Public administration, Vigilance, Law and Management and Finance including insurance and banking.
