Mizoram was the first state which launched the Voters Helpline Number - 1950 and mobile app for people with disabilities on the occasion of National Voters Day.

Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan launched the voters' helpline number '1950' and mobile application for individuals with inabilities as a major aspect of the National Voters' Day festivities.

Mizoram is a mountainous region state. It became the 23rd state of India in February 1949. It was a district of Assam until it became a Union Territory in 1972. After the British came to power in 1891, for some years the Lushai mountainous region of the north remained under Assam and half the southern part was under Bengal. In 1897, the two were merged to form a district called Lushai Hills district and it came under the administration of the Chief Commissioner of Assam. When the Northeast Region Reorganization Act came into force in 1972, Mizoram became a Union Territory.

As a result of the historic agreement between the Government of India and the Mizo National Front in 1979, it was granted full statehood on 20 February 1979.
