Since 1975, the day has been officially celebrated as the International Women’s Day all over the world and is declared as the national holiday in many parts of the world. However, the International Women’s Day celebration was started with action from the women’s labor movement in the U.S. and it took over as a very revolutionary movement form in Russia in the year 1917. Many school students and numerous educational institutes participate in various events like special lessons, debates or presentations about the importance of women in society, their existence, their influence, and issues that affect them. As well as in many countries school students even bring gifts to their female teachers and women’s get presents from their friends or family members. In addition to this, there are many workplaces which make the day special for women and conduct a noticeable event about International Women’s Day through internal newsletters or notices, or by handing out promotional material based on the day or event they are celebrating for.

A great number of initiatives have been made to date to protect and promote women’s rights all over the world. However, nowhere in the world, a woman can say confidently that she is having all the same rights and opportunities as men are having, according to the United Nation. The majority of the world about 1.3 billion of the absolute population is poor and are women. On average, a woman receives approximately 30 and 40 percent of less pay than men earn for the same work. Women are also still becoming the victims of violence, like rape and domestic violence which are listed as the most significant causes of disability and death among the women population in the worldwide.

The logo of International Women’s Day is designed in purple and white color and had the symbol of Venus in it, which is also being the symbol of a female. And at the background having the faces of women of different backgrounds, ages, and nations can be seen during various promotional events, such as posters, postcards and information booklets, on International Women’s Day. Different types of messages and slogans are also written to promote the day are also publicized during this time of the year.
