Jude Felix is the former Captain of the Indian Hockey Team, with about more than 13 years of International Hockey playing experience and more than 21 years of Hockey coaching experience. He is famous for his appointment as the coach of the Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team.
Hockey India appointed him after following the team’s successful Europe Tour which involved nine players from last year’s junior men’s core group. However, the high quality performance by team India the Director David John emphasized that the programmes initiated by Hockey India in the past five-six years are being fruitful as the juniors are being given the forefront to attain a spot in the senior team, ultimately it increasing the talent pool in the Olympic cycle. Jude Felix has been the junior team coach for about 13 months but was dropped at the last minute, after the team for the Buenos Aires Games was selected.
Initially John, started his career in India Hockey team is about seven years ago as a Physio, has was also been named as the head coach of the Women’s team. Apart from being the Coach of Junior Indian Hockey Team, his other achievements as an Indian Hockey National Team Coach include a Bronze Medal in the year 2017, the 7th Sultan of Johar Cup at Malaysia, Indian National Senior Men’s Hockey Team Coach for 2016 Rio Olympics, A Gold Medal in the year 2014, for the 17th Asian Games at Incheon, and a Silver Medal in the year 2014, for Common Wealth Games in Scotland.
Jude Felix is honored with Arjuna Award in the year 1995 and also led the team as a captain from 1993 to 1995. He also led the team in the 1993 World Cup and in the Asian Games in 1994 at Hiroshima and overall he represented India in 2 Olympics Game in 1988 and 1992.
