The US announced its exit from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). In the UN, US ambassador Nikki Haley accused the council of political bias against Israel. Haley said countries like Russia, China, Cuba and Egypt also hampered efforts to reform its council. The US had long been demanding reforms in this 47-member council.

Healy was accompanied by the country's Defense Minister Mike Pompeo in the announcement made from the US Department of Defense. Haley also accused the council of defending countries that actually violated human rights. He claimed that human rights abusers will continue to do their work and will also get elected to the council. 

Referring to countries such as China, Cuba, Iran and Venezuela, Haley said that the council has many members who do not even respect the basic human rights of their citizens, but the council continues to be a scapegoat for countries whose human rights matters The record is better, so that it can divert the world's attention from those who break it.

The US was a member of this 47-member council for three years. However, his one and a half year term had been completed. It was reported that the US Council has not accepted the demands for reform. After this it was believed that America would leave the Council. This is the third time after the Paris climate and the Iran nuclear deal that the US has separated itself from any multilateral agreement.
