The Indian Air Force Day is celebrated on October 8th of every year. Officially, the Indian Air Force Day was first celebrated on October 8, 1932.

Every Year the day is celebrated with great enthusiasm at all the Air Stations all over the Country. The Air Force day has been witnessed by all the three Chiefs of Defence Service i.e. Air Force, Army, and Navy. The day is officially celebrated since October 8, 1932, such that to increase the awareness of Indian Air Force in any organization of the national security.
The day has been celebrated with events at each Air Force base with Air shows and Parades by the Cadets of Indian Air Force. During the British Rule, India precipitated in World War II and then the British Empire honored India’s Aviation Service with the prefix ‘Royal’ i.e. ‘Royal Indian Air Force’. But within the three years of India’s Independence, the ‘Royal’ prefix has been removed and till then it is “Indian Air Force”.
The rank of Supreme Commander of the Indian Air Force is held by the President of India. The motto of Indian Air Force is “Touch the Sky with Glory”. The Indian Air Force Mission is defined by the Armed Forces Act of 1947, and the Air Force Act of 1950. As, along with the Indian Army and Navy, Indian Air Force is a fundamental crucial part of India’s Defence System.
Indian Air Force is ranked as the 4th Best Operational Airforce in the World. The largest defense firm in the public sector is ‘Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’ (HAL) and was formed in the year 1948. At present, about 1,70,000 personnel are decorating the Indian Air Force.
