India precipitated in World War II and then the
British Empire honored India’s Aviation Service with the prefix ‘Royal’ i.e. ‘Royal Indian Air Force’.
But within the three years of India’s
Independence, the ‘Royal’ prefix has been removed and till then it is “Indian Air Force”.
The rank of Supreme Commander of the Indian Air Force is held by the
President of India
. The motto of Indian Air Force is “Touch the Sky with Glory”.
The Indian Air Force Mission is defined by the Armed Forces Act of 1947, and the Air Force Act of 1950. As, along with the Indian Army and Navy, Indian Air Force is a fundamental crucial part of India’s Defence System.
Indian Air Force is ranked as the 4th Best Operational Airforce in the World. The largest defense firm in the public sector is ‘Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’ (HAL) and was formed in the year 1948. At present, about 1,70,000 personnel are decorating the Indian Air Force.
