You can find your windows product key at various places. The first is in the same operating system registry when the manufacturer or a user installs the system, the Windows registry stores the product key.
The second place where it can be located is printed on a label affixed to the PC's chassis or the bottom of a laptop or the battery or hard drive cover. This method, common on new computers with Windows 7 and below, has been virtually phased out as Windows 8 for security and piracy reasons.
The third-place where the Windows key can be is in the BIOS itself, a technique already being used by all manufacturers using the new UEFI firmware. Most new computers starting with Windows 8, use it. It makes the task easier because simply by reinstalling Windows, the system itself will recover the encrypted product key in UEFI.
As each manufacturer is a world in UEFI implementation, we recommend you in any of the cases that you search and save the product key. The easiest way is to use third-party tools like ProduKey. We will not expand because we already offered you a guide to using this little free application.
