With iOS, Gmail messages are preserved in the Mail app on your iPhone. You can archive communications you're done with and retain them for as long as you wish by archiving them. Messages that have been archived are transferred to the All Mail folder. The Mail program will not erase messages from your Gmail account. The following is how it works:

To reach the Archive setting, first tap Settings.
2. Select Mail, Contacts, and Calendars from the drop-down menu.
3. To proceed, tap Gmail Account.
4. Select Account.
5. Go to the archiving allows you to move messages from your Gmail inbox but keep them in the All mail tab. It’s the same process as moving messages into a filing cabinet instead of putting them in the trash can.
In case your account is set to auto-archived and you don’t want your emails to be archived and stay in the inbox instead, simply hide the Send & Archive button
6. Select Move Discarded Messages Into from the drop-down menu.
7. Deselect the Archive Mailbox check box by removing the checkbox.
Keys To Remember:
All deletion choices, such as pressing the Trash symbol when viewing a message and selecting the Edit menu to manage numerous messages, are replaced when you choose the Archive setting.

You may move messages from your Gmail inbox to the All mail tab by archiving them. It's the same as putting messages in a file cabinet rather than throwing them away in the trash can.

If you don't want your emails to be archived and instead stay in your inbox, just hide the Send & Archive option if your account is configured to auto-archive.
