If turning Wi-Fi on and off and ignoring the Wi-Fi network doesn't work, the next step is to reset your iPhone's network settings. Your current network settings will be erased, and the defaults will be restored. If there is a problem with the network settings that have caused this error to appear, the reset should fix it. If you wish to try it, make a note of your network password and server credentials, then follow the procedures below:

  1. From the Home screen, select Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Reset is located at the bottom of the page.
  4. Select Reset Network Settings from the drop-down menu.
  5. Wait for the reset to complete. After that, your iPhone will reset.

After it boots up completely, set up your wireless network again, connect to it and then try checking for iOS update.
