The instructions below will lead you through the process of turning your iPhone 8 into a wireless router, allowing it to connect to the Internet using its cellular data connection and then broadcasting its Wi-Fi connection to your other devices, allowing them to access the Internet as well.

  1. To open the Settings app, tap Settings.
  2. Select Cellular.
  3. Select Personal Hotspot.
  4. Then, hit the slider to enable Personal Hotspot.
  5. If you don't find Personal Hotspot in this option, check Settings-> Mobile Data. Otherwise, contact your carrier to confirm that Personal Hotspot is included with your plan.
After configuring Personal Hotspot on your iPhone 8, you can now try to connect your other devices to the Personal Hotspot on your iPhone 8 through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB. Here's how you can begin:

  1. Check and check that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled or switched on on your iPhone 8 so that the hotspot is not limited to USB.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi Password and type in a password that you want to use.
  3. Then look at the hotspot's name. It is in the section titled To Connect Using Wi-Fi.
  4. Click the Wi-Fi icon on your other device, such as a Mac computer. If you're using an iPad, go to Settings-> Wi-Fi-> and then pick the Wi-Fi hotspot.
  5. Enter the proper Wi-Fi password (the one you set up in the prior step).
Wait for your device to connect, and then you should be able to browse the Internet on your MacBook or iPad using the connection supplied by your iPhone 8.
