Do Not Disturb is a feature that allows you to filter incoming calls. DND, as the name suggests, is an iPhone function that allows you to mute calls, alert noises, and notifications when your smartphone is locked. It is also used to plan when to enable calls from specific people. However, there are times when the iPhone behaves strangely while Do Not Disturb is enabled. If you have a crackling or static noise on your iPhone 8 with DND is activated, try turning it off and seeing what happens when you make a phone call or use FaceTime with the DND feature disabled on your iPhone 8.
  • Do Not Disturb can be enabled or disabled using the Settings menu and the Control Center.
  • To disable DND from the Settings menu, navigate to Settings-> Do Not Disturb and then hit the switch to turn it off.

If the crescent icon turns grey, you'll know DND is enabled.

Also, be certain that your iPhone is not in silent mode. To begin, the iPhone features a Ring/Silent switch in the upper left corner. To set the device to ring, move the switch forward or towards the iPhone screen.
