While keeping apps open or running in the background is advised for multitasking, any of these background programs can crash, go rogue, or cause the iPhone processor to labor incessantly. To begin, use the following steps to force close apps on your iPhone 8 Plus:

  1. Tap the Home button twice. This will display your most recently used apps.
  2. To switch between app previews, swipe right or left.
  3. Then, on an app's preview, swipe up to close it.
  4. Repeat the process until all apps have been closed.
After closing all background apps, restart your iPhone 8 Plus or do a soft reset by pushing and holding the Side/Power button until the Slide to Power off prompt displays. To turn off the iPhone fully, drag the slider to the right. After 30 seconds, hit the Side/Power button once more until the gadget powers off.
