If the microphone problem was caused by software problems in the first place, installing an iOS update might be the key to resolving it. Having said that, follow these steps to check for any updates that need to be installed on your device:
  1. Open the Settings app on your phone.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select Software Update from the menu.
