To begin, connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes. To avoid system incompatibilities, make sure you're running the most recent version of iTunes. While your iPhone X is connected, follow these steps to force a restart:
- Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
- Then, swiftly push and release the Volume Down button.
- Finally, hold down the Power/Side button until you get the Recovery Mode screen. When the Apple logo shows, don't let go of the button since you need to get into recovery mode.
- Wait for the Restore or Update prompt to appear when you see the recovery mode or Connect to iTunes screen. Then choose Restore from the drop-down menu.
To finish the iOS restore, follow the rest of the onscreen instructions. It takes about 15 minutes for iTunes to download and reinstall iOS on your smartphone. Your iPhone will exit recovery mode if the restoration procedure takes longer than that.
