The following are the general steps for performing a thorough restoration:
- Make a copy of your files as a backup. You can accomplish this in a variety of methods, but the quickest and most efficient method is to use iTunes on your PC or Mac. If you don't want to make a backup, simply follow the procedures in this link to delete everything on your phone.
- Use the cable that came with your phone to connect your iPhone to your computer.
- We're assuming you remember your phone's passcode, so just type it in when prompted.
- When iTunes asks for a specific device, select your iPhone.
- Select the option that will restore your data once you're at the Summary panel or screen.
- Click the Restore button to confirm.
- Allow a few moments for iTunes to restore your device's factory settings. It may also take some time if iTunes needs to update to a newer version of the operating system.
- All software settings should be restored to their defaults after this factory reset.
