The iPhone 7 lacks a physical Home button in favor of a capacitive Force Touch Home button, recovery mode has been shifted to the volume down button.

  1. If your iPhone 7 isn't already turned off, do it now.
  2. For 3 seconds, press and hold the On/Off button on the right side (iPhone 6 and later) or top (all other iPhones).
  3. Swipe the confirmation slider to the right to turn off the light.
  4. On your iPhone 7, press and hold the volume down button.
  5. Make sure your iPhone 7 is connected to your Mac or Windows PC and that iTunes is open.
  6. When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the volume down button.
  7. Now your iPhone should be in recovery mode
