Is It Possible To Use External Webcam With Macbook Pro?
  • Internal iSight webcams come standard on MacBook Pro notebooks. These cameras are aimed at you as you sit in front of the computer and can be used for both still photography and video recording. However, an external webcam, which can record at a better resolution and provide more flexibility, may be preferable.
  • If your company organises a webinar, you might wish to sit at your laptop and direct a webcam at a coworker near a whiteboard. Use the USB ports on your MacBook to connect an external webcam for such occasions.
  • Locate the USB port on your MacBook. Two USB ports are located on the left side of the MacBook Pro. A third USB port is also included on the 17-inch variants.
  • Examine the USB port on the webcam. There are two notches on each side of the plug. Only one set of notches is visible. White or black is the other option.
  • Turn the plug so that the transparent notches are facing up.
  • Plug the plug into a USB port that isn't already occupied.
