Malala Yousafzai's autobiography, co-written with Christina Lamb, is titled I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban. Weidenfeld & Nicolson in the United Kingdom and Little, Brown, and Company in the United States released it on October 8, 2013. The book chronicles Yousafzai's early years, including her father's school ownership and advocacy, the emergence and fall of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan in Swat Valley, and a murder attempt on her when she was 15 years old, in response to her activism for female education. Though it has been banned in many Pakistani schools, it has gained favorable critical acclaim and has won accolades.
