A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, India's eleventh President, and a pioneering scientist wrote the book Transcendence: My Spiritual Experiences with Pramukh Swamiji (June 2015). The book, co-authored by Professor Arun Tiwari and published by HarperCollins India, details Kalam's spiritual experiences with and comments on Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the BAPS Hindu organization's teacher, and spiritual leader. Kalam spoke about his spiritual change during his fourteen-year relationship with Pramukh Swami, the inspiration he received from Pramukh Swami's leadership of BAPS, and his vision for a society in which science and spirituality are united.

According to Kalam, Pramukh Swami is 'a true manifestation of transcendence,' and the book's title reflects his view that Pramukh Swami is gunatit, a term that denotes transcendence of ephemeral attributes and natural modes.

The book is structured into thirty-two chapters and an epilogue, which are evenly divided into four major sections.

  • Kalam's spiritual experiences with Pramukh Swami Maharaj are described in the first section.
  • The second part showcases some of BAPS' most notable works.
  • The third section promotes the integration of science and spirituality, citing historical instances of prominent scientists who also held spiritual beliefs.
  • The fourth portion considers innovative leadership ideas

The co-author, publishers, and top BAPS swamis presented Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a copy of the book on June 26, 2015. Harper Element, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers India, has published the book in hardback.
