The original name of the writer is ‘Fabrice Etienne’. Sebastian is the pen name of Fabrice, and he is the French Consul-General of India. Originally the book was written in the French language. Later the book was translated and was published by the Sampark Publication House in Kolkata. Then the book was launched by the French Ambassador in Delhi ‘Francois Richier’.
The writer Fabrice was the person who was living a dual-life during the British Era. As he was very much interested in knowing the stories of ghosts in Kolkata. During his working hour, Fabrice plays the role as a Diplomat, whereas, in nights, he visits the old Cemeteries and the Old dilapidated buildings of government offices and search for the ghosts. Thus, the novel is the result of his search for ghosts in Kolkata during the British Era.
In his writing, he not only told about the ghosts but as included the stories of his friends, associates, neighbors, passerby’s, and all those who live near him. To write the book, he used to visit all these places in hunt of the stories and he started visiting these place form 1995. He worked like an Investigating Officer to fetch the haunted stories about British Era in those cemeteries and haunted outdated government buildings which used to belong to the British. The book was released on July 23, 2015. The book also includes some fictional characters introduced by him to make the story interesting.
