Virender Sehwag became only the second batter in the history of the game to achieve a double century in one-day internationals on December 8, 2011. At the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, Sehwag went on to score 219 runs against the West Indies. Sehwag hammered 25 fours and seven sixes in his 219-run performance against the West Indies, enabling India to reach a score of 418/5 in the allocated fifty overs.

The match was then won by India by 153 runs. Sehwag represented India in 251 One-Day Internationals and 104 Tests, amassing 8,273 and 8,586 runs in total.

In the longest format of the game, the Delhi-born batsman has also struck two triple hundreds for India.

In ODIs, batsmen have only managed to score 200 runs on eight occasions. Sachin Tendulkar became the first guy to score a double tonne in an ODI when he did so against South Africa in Gwalior in 2010.

Rohit Sharma has three ODI double centuries to his name. In 2013, he made his first double tonne against Australia.

Then, in 2014 and 2017, he repeated the feat against Sri Lanka. Rohit also holds the record for the best individual ODI score of 264 runs, which he scored against Sri Lanka in 2014.

In 2014, he scored 264 runs against Sri Lanka, and in 2017, he scored 208 runs against them.
