The world's highest golf course, however, is found in the Himalayas. It is located in India's far north, near the Chinese and Bhutanese borders.
The Yak Course is located in Kupup, East Sikkim, India.
The highest 18-hole golf course in the world, at 13,025 feet (3790 metres), was officially measured by Guinness World Records on October 10, 2006. When played in its entirety, it measures over 6,000 yards (5,510 metres).
The Via Lattea golf course in Sestriere, Italy, is Europe's highest at 6,677 feet (2,035m). It first opened its doors in 1932 and hosted Henry Cotton's 1936 Italian Open victory.

The highest course in South America is La Paz Golf Club in Peru, which sits at 11,800 feet (3,600 metres) and hosts the world's highest competition.
However, until the early 1990s, South America had the world's highest golf course, the Tucto golf club in Peru, which stood at 14,335 feet (4369 metres).
The par 72 Jade Dragon Snow Mountain golf course in Gan Haizi, Yunnan Province, China, is the world's longest golf course at 8,457 yards and lies at 10,000 feet above sea level.
A few professional tournaments have been held at high altitudes, including the WGC-Mexico Championship at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, which is located at 7,870 feet (2,400 metres) above sea level.
