The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is the governing body for football, futsal, and beach soccer throughout Europe, as well as Armenia, Cyprus, Israel, and several transcontinental countries' Asian regions. The governing body of world football, FIFA, has six continental confederations. The United Nations Football Association (UEFA) is made up of 55 different national associations.

UEFA represents European national football associations, organizes national and club competitions such as the UEFA European Championship, UEFA Nations League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League, and UEFA Super Cup, and manages prize money, regulations, and media rights.

The first general secretary was Henri Delaunay, and the first president was Ebbe Schwartz. Aleksander eferin, a former president of the Football Association of Slovenia, was chosen as UEFA's seventh president in September 2016 during the 12th Extraordinary UEFA Congress in Athens, and automatically became a vice-president of FIFA.

UEFA was created in Basel, Switzerland, on June 15, 1954.
