The Ministry of State (Independent Charge) Labour and Employment is a portfolio under the Government of India. Mr Santosh Kumar Gangwar (born on 1st November 1948) a cabinet minister in the Indian Government is heading this ministry. He is an Indian politician and belongs to Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). He assumed office on 3rd September 2017 under Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi.

He was the Minister of Textiles from 26th May 2014 to 7th July 2016 under Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. Mr Santosh Kumar Gangwar is a Member of Parliament (16th Lok Sabha) and represents the city of Bareilly. He was a Member of Parliament from 1989 to 2009. Mr Santosh Kumar Gangwar again became the Member of Parliament in 2014 after the general elections. He still represents Bareilly in the 16th Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Parliament)

Mr Santosh Kumar Gangwar is the Chairman of the Urban Co-operative Bank Limited. Mr Gangwar is also the member of the Court of the Aligarh Muslim University. He is also the member of the Governing Body of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Apart from establishing the Urban Co-operative Bank Limited in 1996 in Bareilly, Mr Gangwar is also committed for the overall development of his constituency. Integrated Rural Development through Co-operative Movement using Animal Husbandry Technologies is a project initiated by him. CHOPULA Railway Over Bridge, Mini Bye Pass and the State of Art Library (Cantt) are the other projects initiated by Mr Santosh Kumar Gangwar in his constituency. Mr Santosh Kumar Gangwar received a degree in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) from Agra University and a Bachelor of Law degree (L.L.B) from Rohilkhand University. He has been active in politics for over three decades now.
