Sushma Swaraj (born on February 14th, 1952) is the Minister of External Affairs. Sushma Swaraj is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). The Ministry of External Affairs is also known as the Foreign Ministry. Sushma Swaraj assumed office on 26th May 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After Indira Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj is the second woman to hold the office.

Sushma Swaraj born in Ambala Cantonment, Punjab, India (now in Haryana, India) was a former Supreme Court lawyer. She was also the former Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) president. Swaraj was the Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs from 26th May 2014 to 7th January 2016 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sushma Swaraj was the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha from 21st December 2009 to 26th May 2014. She was the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 29th January 2003 to 22nd May 2004. Sushma Swaraj was also the Minister of Health and Family Welfare from 29th January 2003 to 22nd May 2004 under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Sushma Swaraj was the Minister of Information and Broadcasting from 30th September 2000 to 29th January 2003 under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Swaraj has been elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly three times and Member of Parliament seven times. She represents Vidisha constituency from Madhya Pradesh after the 2014 general elections as a Member of Parliament. Sushma Swaraj was also the Member of Parliament for South Delhi from 7th May 1996 to 3rd October 1999. Sushma Swaraj was the 5th Chief Minister of Delhi from 13th October 1998 to 3rd December 1998.
