(Darbara Singh the 10th Chief Minister of Punjab)

Darbara Singh (10th February 2016 – 10th March 1990) was the tenth Chief Minister of Punjab. He held office from 6th June 1980 to 10th October 1983 representing Nakodar constituency in Jalandhar district, Punjab, India. Darbara Singh was an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress (INC) party.

Darbara Singh was born in Jalandhar, Punjab, India (British India when under the British rule). He was the Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha or the Council of States (upper house of the parliament) representing Punjab from 1984 to 1990. Singh was also the Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha (lower house of the parliament) representing Hoshiarpur, Punjab from 1971 to 1977.  

Captain Amarinder Singh (born on March 11th, 1942) an Indian politician from Indian National Congress is the 26th and the current Chief Minister of Punjab. He assumed office on 16th March 2017. He was the Member of Parliament from 26th May 2014 to 23rd November 2016 representing Amritsar. He was the Captain of the Sikh Regiment in the Indian Army from 1963 to 1965. Captain Amarinder Singh is also the chairman of Punjab Urdu Academy.

Punjab an Indian state lies to the northern part of the country. Punjab shares its borders with the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir to the north, Himachal Pradesh to the east, Haryana to the southeast, Rajasthan to the southwest and the Pakistan province of Punjab to the west. Punjab covers an area of 50,362 sq km (19445 sq mi). The capital of Punjab is Chandigarh which is a Union Territory and also the capital of Haryana. There are 22 districts in Punjab with Ludhiana being the largest city. Punjab is a unicameral legislature with 117 seats and 13 Parliamentary constituencies. V P Singh Badnore is the Governor of the state. The total population of the state as per the 2011 census is 27,704,236. Punjabi is being spoken by the inhabitants of the state.
