Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was born on 29th January 1970 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). He represents Jaipur as a Member of Parliament and assumed office on 16th May 2014. Colonel Rathore served in the Indian Army and retired at the rank of Colonel. He was a member of the 9th Grenadiers. Colonel Rathore was the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting from 9th November 2014 to 14th May 2018 under Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. Colonel Rathore assumed office on 14th May 2018 as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under Prime Minister Modi.

Colonel Rathore represented India in various sports event related to shooting. He won the silver medal in the men’s double trap shooting competition at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He has also won medals for the country in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. Colonel Rathore won gold medals in the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games in double trap individual and double trap pairs events respectively. In the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, he won a gold medal in the double trap individual category and a silver medal in the double trap pairs category. In the 2006 Doha Asian Games, Colonel Rathore won the silver medal in double trap teams category and a bronze medal in the double trap individual event. Colonel Rathore received the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), a military award given for exceptional service to the nation. Colonel Rathore received the Arjuna Award in 2003-2004. In 2004-2005 Colonel, Rathore was bestowed with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (the highest sporting honour of India). Colonel Rathore received the Padma Shri (fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India) in the year 2005.
