What is the official language in Punjab?

Its native speakers are around 113 million. In Pakistan, Punjabi is spoken by 80.05 million people. Punjabi is the regional language of Pakistan's Punjab province, but it lacks a formal position at the state scale. Punjabi is an official language of the Punjab state and is spoken by 31.1 million people in India (as of 2011). The language is spoken by a substantial international diaspora, mostly in Canada, the U.s., and the U.k.

Punjabi is written in the Shahmukhi script in Pakistan, whereas Gurmukhi is used in India. The usage of lexical tone in Punjabi is unique within Indo-Aryan languages (and Indo-European languages in general).
