In a republic like India, elections serve as a gauge of citizens' preferences. After being elected, the Parliament has become a stage for the winning individuals to carry out their duties. In addition to actually doing their job as a public representative, this often entails attending legislative sessions, serving on committees, voting on legislation, and participating in debates and other processes in the parliament.

The 'Question Hour' is the opening hour of each day's proceedings in both the Upper and Lower Houses of the Indian Parliament. MPs from both parties raise inquiries about every facet of administration and government action at this time. Each inquiry is directed to the appropriate ministry, and it is the responsibility of the Ministers in charge of such ministries to offer necessary information and clarifications on subjects of public importance. Parliamentary questions have evolved into a powerful instrument for holding elected officials accountable, and they continue to spark the interest of activists, academics, and civic-minded citizens.
