Every year, on the 2nd of October we celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in commemoration of the birth ceremony of "Father of the Nation", Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. As 'Bapu' had always believed that real strength lies in peace and non-violence, we also celebrate this day as non-violence day in honor of his most powerful values. He won all the freedom fights by promoting peaceful and true paths to empowered Indians with real spirit and enthusiasm for Independence.

Thus, Gandhi Jayanti is felicitated as International Day of Non-Violence which was declared by the United Nations General Assembly on 15 June 2007. On this eminent day, people gather at Raj Ghat, New Delhi, and across India to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti by offering flowers on Gandhi's photos, statues, and singing his favorite devotional song, Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram.
