The Seven Years' War (or the French and Indian War) ended in 1763, with Great Britain victorious. This instilled pride in the English population, including the colonists. Furthermore, Britain acquired Canada, increasing the size of its colonies.

When the American Revolution began in 1775, the colonists were fighting for their independence from Britain. However, just 12 years earlier, in 1763, most colonists had a positive attitude toward Britain. 

There were several reasons for this. 

The Proclamation of 1763 was issued by King George III and it prohibited settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. This was done in order to prevent conflict between Native Americans and colonists. The colonists thought this was a good idea because it would allow them to keep their land.

First, the British had just defeated the French in the Seven Years' War, also known as the French and Indian War. This was a major victory for the British, and the colonists saw them as strong and powerful.

Second, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act in 1765, which required the colonists to pay taxes on all paper products, including newspapers, legal documents, and even playing cards. The colonists were angry about this tax, but most still had a positive attitude toward Britain.

Third, the British had not yet begun to enforce the Navigation Acts, which restricted the colonies' trade with other countries. The colonists were still able to trade freely with Britain and the rest of the world.

Fourth, the British government had not yet begun to interfere with the colonists' way of life. The colonists were still able to govern themselves and live as they pleased.

Overall, the colonists had a positive attitude toward Britain in 1763 because the British were strong and powerful, had not yet begun to tax the colonists heavily, and had not yet interfered with the colonists' way of life.
