"Singapore"

Why do people want to leave Singapore?

It is a totally urban, intense and highly competitive city-state. So people who want a bit more space for a lower living cost, and also crave for a less competitive environment with more populist welfare, may want to migrate elsewhere.

Also, being small, it cannot match the scale of operations and market size of the US, for example. So again, if you want to be close to the top management of companies that rule the world, then you are better off where the real decisions are made. Even most people working at investment banks in Singapore agree that they have to eventually get most of the instructions from London or New York. So if you want to get to the top management, why not be there in the first place?

So in summary, I would classify those who move as either people driven by ambition or driven by a desire for a less intense life.

One simple packet of chicken rice can cost up to a minimum of $4.

The pledge that everyone speaks is just lip service. Let me type it out for you.
""We, the citizens of Singapore,
pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion,
to build a democratic society based on justice and equality
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.""
And let me break it down here.
pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion
The problem with this, our recent president is a mix race so neither the Malay or the Tamil support her. The Chinese are unhappy because she is not Chinese.
a democratic society based on justice and equality
Democracy is great and all but everyone still hates each other. LGBTQ's are hated and shun!
happiness, prosperity, and progress for our nation."
If it was so progressive, there won't be a hate crime. If it was prosperous we would not be paying $4 just for chicken rice. If it was happy why would we want to leave?
